1. What is Lumina Pathways CIC?
Lumina Pathways CIC is a not-for-profit housing and support provider. We offer safe, well-maintained accommodation and tailored support services to adults and young people who may be vulnerable, in transition, or in need of short-term or long-term housing.
Our aim is to help people live as independently and confidently as possible—with dignity, respect, and a strong sense of belonging.
2. Who can apply for housing with Lumina Pathways?
We work with individuals referred through:
• Local authorities or housing teams
• Social workers or support coordinators
• Charities and partner agencies
• In some cases, self-referrals (depending on availability and support needs)
Our services are designed for people who may have:
• Learning disabilities
• Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
• Mental health challenges
• Complex needs
• Experienced housing insecurity or supported accommodation transitions
3. What types of housing do you offer?
We offer:
- Short-stay respite housing: Ideal for recovery, transition, or breaks from usual care environments
- Step-down supported living: For individuals moving out of hospital or care settings into more independent living
- Temporary lets: In partnership with local authorities or charities during periods of housing disruption or renovation
- Longer-term supported tenancies: For people needing stable, consistent housing with ongoing support
All homes are maintained to a high standard and fully risk-assessed.
4. What support services are available?
Support is tailored to individual needs and may include:
• Help with budgeting, benefits, and tenancy sustainment
• Daily living skills (cooking, shopping, cleaning)
• Medication prompts or support with routines
• Support to access healthcare, education, or work
• Social inclusion and community access
• Safeguarding, advocacy, and emotional wellbeing support
Support hours may vary based on assessment and are typically provided by Jessamy Platinum Homecare or another registered care partner.
5. Do I need to pay rent?
Yes, you will usually need to pay rent or claim Housing Benefit (or the housing element of Universal Credit) to cover your accommodation.
Our team will help you:
- Apply for housing benefits if you’re eligible
- Understand any service charges or contributions
- Create a simple payment plan if needed
Some services (such as care or support) may be funded separately by your local authority or personal budget.
6. Will I sign a tenancy or licence agreement?
Yes. Depending on the type of housing and length of stay, you will either sign:
• A Licence Agreement (for short stays or shared accommodation), or
• A Tenancy Agreement (for more long-term or independent living)
We will explain all terms in clear, simple language and provide copies for your records.
We can also support you to read or understand your rights and responsibilities.
7. Can I decorate or personalise my room?
Yes, we encourage residents to make their space feel like home. You can usually bring personal items, bedding, and small furnishings. Please speak to your housing support worker before making any permanent changes to décor or fittings.
8. Are visitors allowed?
Visitors are usually allowed during agreed hours and with prior notice, especially in shared housing. However, overnight stays are generally not permitted unless formally agreed as part of your support plan.
Safety and respect for others living in the home always come first.
9. What if I have a complaint or a concern?
We take all feedback seriously. You can:
- Speak to your housing or support worker
- Call our main office
- Submit a formal complaint in writing or online
We aim to resolve all complaints fairly and within clear timeframes. If needed, we can also support you to involve an advocate or safeguarding team.
10. What happens if I break the rules or struggle to manage?
We understand that life can be challenging. We don’t evict people without exploring all support options first.
If issues arise:
• We’ll work with you to understand the cause
• Provide extra support where possible
• Involve your social worker or keyworker if needed
Only in serious or repeated cases (e.g. violence, property damage, illegal behaviour) would we consider ending a tenancy or licence – and always following proper procedures.
11. Can I stay long-term?
This depends on the type of service and your personal plan.
Some residents stay for a few weeks or months, while others move into longer-term tenancies.
We will work with you to create a pathway plan, so you always know what’s next – whether that’s staying longer, moving into independent housing, or returning to family or another placement.
12. How do I apply or make a referral?
Referrals can be made via:
• Local authority commissioners
• Charities and social care teams
• Family members or carers (with consent)
• Direct self-referral (if appropriate)
